Call for Participants - Ad Hoc Group to revise the NCITS Annual Report Format

NCITS is initiating an ad hoc committee to deal with two concerns about the annual reports required of each NCITS Technical Committee:

The reports require too much effort to write
The reports require too much effort to read.
The objective of the ad hoc committee is to revise the SD-10 (NCITS Subgroup Annual Report Format) by developing a new report format that provides the NCITS Consensus Body with the necessary information to manage the technical work of standardization without imposing an undue burden on the Subgroup officers. NCITS members will also benefit from the revision by being presented a short, focused report that highlights the important issues facing the Subgroup without being surrounded by many pages of data. (Many TC Annual Reports exceed 50 pages.)

The decision to convene an ad hoc committee was made after the NCITS Policy and Procedures Committee reported that it had considered the issues related to revising the SD-10, and felt that broad participation was needed. Some of the areas of interest that were suggested are:

We are hoping for participation from the NCITS Consensus Body, the customers of the report, as well as from the TC Chairs, who prepare the reports. Participants should be willing to accept reviewing and writing assignments; non-participants will be given the opportunity to comment on the resulting draft once it is finished, but we need active participants in order to produce a good product.

We expect to need participants who can:

If you would like to participate, please advise Kate McMillan of your interest.
