Ed Barrett of Sony Re-elected as INCITS SDB Chair

Washington, DC – June 27, 2006 – The InterNational Committee for Information Technology Standards (INCITS) announced that Ed Barrett of Sony Electronics has been re-elected by the group’s Executive Board to a second term as the Chair of the Standards Development Board
(SDB). Mr. Barrett is a Senior Manager in the Sony Technology Standards Office in Itasca, Illinois. The chair of the SDB is responsible for leading the INCITS subgroup that creates, adopts, and promotes standards and specifications and enables collaboration with other standards development organizations and industry consortia.

In addition to serving as Sony’s principal member to the INCITS Executive Board and chairing the INCITS SDB since April, 2003, he also represents Sony as the member representative on the Advanced Television Systems Committee (ATSC) and as a member of the Board of Directors. Ed also participates in INCITS T3 technical committee on Open Distributed Processing, INCITS B10 technical committee on identification cards and related devices, and the IEC TC100 (Audio, Video and Multimedia equipment and systems) US Technical Advisory Group. Mr. Barrett holds a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from Midwest College of Engineering in Lombard, Illinois.
