NCITS Announces the Public Comment Period for the Withdrawal of ANSI X3.43:1986 [R1992], Representations of Local Time of Day for Information Interchange

Washington D.C., March 1998 - NCITS (National Committee for Information Technology Standards) is announcing the public comment period for ANSI X3.43:1986 [R1992]. The public review extends from April 10, 1998 to June 9, 1998.

This standard is designed to establish uniform time representation based upon both the 12- and 24-hour timekeeping systems. It provides a means for presenting local time of the day in digital form for the purpose of interchanging information among data systems.

In accordance with ANSI procedures and NCITS, which require a five- year review of approved standards, Technical Committee L8 recommends that ANSI X3.43 be withdrawn as it was incorporated in NCITS 310:1998, Information Technology -Representation of Time for Information Interchange.
