Technology Standards Group Re-Elects HP’s Karen Higginbottom as Chair

Washington, DC — March 22, 2001 — The National Committee for Information Technology Standards (NCITS) announced today that members have elected Karen Higginbottom of Hewlett Packard for a second three-year term as Chair.  She is the Director of Standards Initiatives in the Chief Technology Office of HP’s Computing Systems Organization.

Higginbottom aims to establish NCITS’ preeminence in information processing standards worldwide, introduce the standards body to a new generation of technology companies, and enhance the value of membership through aggressive recruitment and new projects.

Since 1994, she has managed HP’s involvement in standards and consortia organizations, where she has been active since 1987.  Prior to joining HP, she led the Standards and Consortia team at Apple Computer.
