for Fast-Track processing in JTC 1:

ANSI/MDC X11.1-1995: Information Systems - Programming Languages - M

ANSI/MDC X11.2-1995: Information Systems - Communication Protocol - Open MUMPS Interconnect

ANSI/MDC X11.6-1994: Information Systems - Programming Languages - M Windowing API

The JTC 1 TAG is soliciting comments from the U.S. community on the appropriateness of the submission of these standards for Fast-Track processing in JTC 1. At the Ninth Plenary Meeting of ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC22 on September 23-27, 1996, SC22 invited the United States National Body to submit the M (UMPS) Standards for Fast-track approval as the revision of ISO/IEC 11756:1992. The announcement period extends from April 11, 1997 through May 10, 1997.

Scope of ANSI/MDC X11.1-1995:
This standard describes the M programming language.

Scope of ANSI/MDC X11.2-1995:
Open MUMPS Interconnect defines a method for network access to MUMPS databases. The protocol provides all basic operations on the sparse tree- structured MUMPS database.

Scope of ANSI/MDC X11.6-1994:
The M Windowing API (MWAPI) extends the M programming technology with the addition of capabilities for developing and operating graphical user interface (GUI) applications.

For the purposes of this standard, an application is defined as a collection of one or more M routines using MWAPI capabilities and a user is a person utilizing such an application.

These standards were approved by the American National Standards Institute.
