Tech Governance the Focus of New INCITS Standards Effort
WASHINGTON, D.C…. Individuals and organizations wanting to help forge U.S. standards on
information technology (IT) governance will gather in Washington, D.C., later this month to
begin their work. The InterNational Committee for Information Technology Standards (INCITS)
will host the meeting, set for February 28.
“This is an opportunity for stakeholders to shape the U.S. approach to information technology
governance – by setting standards that will have significant impact for the American tech sector
as well as influencing the global approach in this area,” said Philip Wennblom, Chairman of the
INCITS Executive Board.
In addition to developing a framework and model for the governance of IT, the group will focus
on a number of key standards in this area, including corporate governance, software
management, and digital forensics. The group will contribute to ISO/IEC JTC 1 standards for
the governance of IT including the following current projects:
• ISO/IEC NP/CD 38500 Revision of ISO/IEC 38500:2008 Corporate Governance of
• ISO/IEC DTR 38502 Information Technology Govern ance of IT- Framework and
• ISO/IEC WDTS 38501 - Corporate Governance of IT Implementation Guide
• ISO/IEC WD 30120 Information technology - Software Engineering - IT Audit - Audit
guidelines for Governance of IT
• ISO/IEC CD 30121 Information technology Software Engine
Digital Forensic Risk Framework
The first meeting is February 28, 2013, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. ET in Washington, D.C.
